Hi Everyone,

Sorry that this is a bit last moment, but I just got around to reviewing
the timing of this webinar from Austrailia on a pilot study of 1m passing
legislation in Queensland, Austrailia that Beth McKecknie from Green Action
Centre had forwarded to me.

For those wondering about the timeshift. 12 noon Friday in Brisbane is 9pn
Thursday Winnipeg time.

I haven't had much of a chance to review the report that the webinar is
based on (it's 189 pages), but it's available here
<https://eprints.qut.edu.au/94655/1/Final_Report_TMR_170316.pdf>. The
discussion starts on page 67, conclusions are on page 70. They had problems
with before/after analysis, and hadn't had time to review collision data
(they might update this in the webinar), although a preliminary result
shows a drop in collisions state wide (which they can't attribute to this
or any other policy/change).

Thought you and others involved in the 1 metre campaign might be interested
in this webinar from Australia:

day of the seminar to stream it live

This presentation will begin with an overview of the activities of the Centre
for Accident Research and Road Safety-Queensland
<https://research.qut.edu.au/carrsq/>. Then a number of bicycle safety
research projects will be discussed, with a particular focus on recent and
current projects that seek to examine the factors influencing passing
distances left by motor vehicles and the effectiveness of one-metre
(3-foot) laws.

One of the other features of the paper is a long list of references that we
may find useful.
