[Policy] Summary of Jan. 5 Policy Committee Decisions and Next Meeting Date

Good meeting today, gentlemen!


In summary:


1) Ian will revise/simplify the Bike Helmet draft, focusing on concern re ridership loss and subsequent loss of health benefits of cycling.  He will try to get this out to us a.s.a.p. (by Friday evening hopefully) so we have Saturday to review and comment on.  Hopefully the final draft can be ready to go out to the board by Sunday for their reading/consideration prior to next week's board meeting.


2) Bill requested that we simplify the format for our Related Documents section by removing the table and making the references more consistent (he provided an example sheet).


3) Laura will modify the Diamond Lane references, but otherwise, it was accepted as ready to be shared with the Board asap.  [Subsequent to our meeting, Mark sent an email with additional thoughts, so Laura did a slightly revised version which she hopes you will quickly respond to.]  Diamond Lane draft should go out to the Board by this weekend if not sooner.


4) Bill will prepare a draft position statement for the Wayfinding BWP006 for our consideration at the next Policy Committee Meeting.  It was noted that the city is working on an AT Wayfinding approach, so this position statement is timely.


5) Gord will prepare a first draft position statement BWP007 on drivers giving at least one metre of room to cyclists to consider at our next meeting.


6) Laura to prepare a first draft BWP008 on snow clearing of AT routes for our next meeting


7) Next Policy Committee Meeting will be held at Gord's home on Thursday Jan. 19th at 8:30 - 235 Elm Street.
